Our Steamboat trip was attended by 28 people, 22 were on our group United direct flight from Newark to Steamboat (Hayden airport), and the remaining 6 met us in Gravity Haus hotel.

The group met at Newark airport for the Saturday flight around 4:30 AM, the plane left Newark airport on time at 6:45 AM. We arrived at Hayden airport at 9:50 AM (on time). We had no issues finding our bus, for a 45-min short drive to the mountain village of Steamboat. When we arrived at the Gravity Haus Hotel, we took our luggage to a storge area (with help from porters). Our skis and boot bags were stored in our rooms. Some of us were in in our rooms immediately while some of us had to wait until their rooms become available (around 2 PM). Everyone received a welcome bag, ski passes, and a breakfast card from the hotel.

The Gravity Haus Hotel was a very good choice. The rooms were a decent size. All breakfast food and beverages were included, the quality and variety of the breakfast buffet was good. Four people rented skis (about $60 per day). The hotel didn’t have an official ski room with individual lockers. However, they had free valet storage for skis near the entrance to the hotel. The majority of people stored their skis and boots in their room. Sunday morning began the 6-days (for some) of great skiing. Gravity Haus is a true ski-in, ski-out hotel at Steamboat base. Steamboat ski resort is large with over a hundred trails ranging from gentle greens, to fun groomed blues and challenging black diamonds. Steamboat is known for their many aspen glades runs for the more adventurous skiers.

Steamboat skiing includes a variety of groomed and ungroomed runs. The off-piste cover was mostly packed powder with a few untouched areas of the powder. The weather was sunny for the entire week (except the last day), with warm temperature in mid-30s The last day had challenging conditions with fresh powder, fog, cold temps, and a strong wind. Access to a mountain tour at 10:30 was not free ($25 pp). A few people used it and liked it.

Sauna rooms, one outside jacuzzi and the heated pool were available and enjoyed by a few members. We had a great time on Monday night at the Club get-together party in the conference room, provided by the hotel, where many toasts and accompanied laughter filled the evening. For dinners, we had a choice of using a hotel restaurant or the many restaurants downtown using the free town buses.

Saturday morning was the departure day for most club members. It was again imperative that each of our member’s bags had our Club's colorful luggage tags so that we could differentiate our bags from others. By 7:45 am we were on our way to Hayden airport. We arrived at the Hayden airport around 8:30 AM for our 11 AM flight. Check in process went smoothly. We boarded the plane on time, and then we were told to leave the plane as it had a mechanical issue. It took us another 3.5 hours of waiting in the overcrowded small airport until the issue was addressed and we could board again. By the time we arrived at Newark around 9 PM, a few of us had missed their connecting flights.
